#63: Autumn Sunrises

Hi hi hi hi hi!

How about that super moon this week!!!????  That was a fun 30-second distraction from the continued nightmare of a Trump presidency! THANKS, MOON!

As I mentioned on Sunday, I’m turning 40 on NOVEMBER 23 (NEXT WEDNESDAY!).  I’ve been thinking a lot about what kind of middle-aged man I want to be. Well, I want to look like this dude:


So I’m guessing that’ll happen after the cookie blog ends. It can be my new blog! Gettin’ (Silver) Foxy! Won’t that be fun? Fashion and fitness! People love that shit, right?  But also hysterical jokes! And maybe some cookie recipes! You know – for cheat days!

Anyway – it’s time for a pumpkin cookie, right? This one has a brown butter frosting and is basically a Martha Stewart deal with some ever-so-slight modifications. Also – I call them autumn sunrises…  You know. Autumn Sunrise???


Here’s your dang recipe, team!
1-1/2 sticka room temp butter

2-1/4 cuppa brown sugar

2 eggs

1-1/2 cuppa canned pumpkin

3/4 cuppa condensed milk

2- 3/4 cuppa flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

2 tsp cinnamon

1-1/2 tsp ginger

1-1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp nutmeg

So many ingredients!!!! Listen – the original recipe used evaporated milk, but I had condensed milk in the cupboard and it’s basically the same, right??!! I never knew this, but condensed milk looks like tan mucus – which reminds me of another reason I like fall/ winter – the return of Mucinex commercials!!!!  I just really love these talking boogers!!!!

I just googled “does the Mucinex booger man have a name?” And he does – Mr. Mucus! Not very original – I’d say he looks more like a Larry.  RIGHT?  I bet HE voted for Trump….

Oh god. I’m off on quite a tangent! Sorry y’all!

Anyway, mix all your thangs together! It’s a loose, drippy dough. You can try to spoon globs onto your cookie sheets, but I used a piping bag because why the hell not! Bake these shits at 375 for about 13.5 min.

Yay! Ok! The frosting is a new one! It’s a browned butter frosting! Brown butter is just melted butter that you’ve left on the stove too long.  You take 1-1/2 sticks of brown butter and you mix it with 4 cups of powdered sugar and 1/3 cuppa condensed milk (yay! It was the rest of my can!) and then splashes of regular milk until it’s the right consistency. Oh my – this might be my new go-to frosting! Just pipe blobs on your cooled off cookies and swirl and swirl and twirl and twirl! Weeeeeeeeeeee!

NOTE 1 – I just had a think and these can easily be made into whoopie pies.  I watched a show about whoopie pies and now I’m an expert!

NOTE 2 – The silver fox in the photo up top.  His name is Garrett Swann and boy oh boy – you should see all the rest of his Instagram pictures!  Wowee wow wow wow!
